About the Author
Jackson P. Rainer, PhD, licensed psychologist, is Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Psychology at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Known and respected in the professional community, he specializes in psychotherapy work with individuals, couples, and families dealing with the crisis of loss due to catastrophic, chronic, and terminal illness. A former Chair of the Publication Board for the Division of Psychotherapy of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Rainer currently sits on the editorial boards of seven psychotherapy journals and is a consultant with the CMI Education Institute.
Frieda Farfour Brown, PhD, MEd, has taught crisis counseling at the graduate and undergraduate levels since 1983 and has over 30 years of experience as a practitioner, program developer and evaluator, and trainer and supervisor. A leading contributor to the field, her well-received model for crisis counseling has recently appeared in Innovations in Clinical Practice. A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Brown joined mental health professionals in efforts to work with victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and currently maintains an active practice.
